Commending the Commonwealth Protection Institute.

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth Protection Institute is a nonprofit institution of learning in Virginia that provides public safety and technical training to the government, the military, and private industry; and

WHEREAS, the volunteer members of the Commonwealth Protection Institute, as Conservators of the Peace for the Commonwealth of Virginia, provide support and assistance to communities and their governments during times of emergency and special events; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth Protection Institute, as an agency of criminal justice and emergency first response, has worked diligently to expand effectiveness, knowledge, and utility of volunteer public safety programs throughout Virginia; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth Protection Institute has endeavored to train and support our returning soldiers, so that they may continue their homeland security mission here at home in Virginia; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth Protection Institute works with other public safety entities on the local, state, and federal level and deserves the continued support of the legislature, agencies, and all residents of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth Protection Institute's outstanding services and programs are vital to the well-being of the Commonwealth and its citizens; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Commonwealth Protection Institute, its members, and volunteers for their hard work and dedication to keeping Virginia safe; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the board of directors of the Commonwealth Protection Institute as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude to the nonprofit for its many contributions to the security of the Commonwealth.
