098539653WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizes the continuous contributions of the native tribal nations to the Commonwealth's history and culture; and
WHEREAS, the six native tribal nations in Virginia remain an important and vibrant part of the Commonwealth's present and future; and
WHEREAS, given the important contributions of the Eastern Chickahominy, Chickahominy, Upper Mattaponi, Rappahannock, Monacan, and Nansemond native tribal nations have made and will continue to make to all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the Eastern Chickahominy, Chickahominy, Upper Mattaponi, Rappahannock, Monacan, and Nansemond native tribal nations in Virginia be honored for their individual and collective contributions to the Commonwealth's history and culture; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the General Assembly hereby urge the federal government to recognize each of the six native tribal nations in Virginia; and, be it
RESOLVED FINALLY, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates transmit copies of this resolution to the Chiefs of the Eastern Chickahominy, Chickahominy, Upper Mattaponi, Rappahannock, Monacan, and Nansemond native tribes, requesting that the Chiefs further disseminate copies of this resolution to their respective constituents so that they may be apprised of the sense of the General Assembly of Virginia in this matter.
