Commending Callas Contractors, Inc.

WHEREAS, Callas Contractors, Inc., a leading construction firm, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008; and

WHEREAS, Callas Contractors provides quality construction services to Virginia, Washington, D.C., West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, Michael Callas, the founder of Callas Contractors, began the company in 1958 on the principles of quality, integrity and community; and

WHEREAS, Michael Callas’ vision and leadership transformed Callas Contractors from a group of 44 carpenters in 1961 to 125 employees today who stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in construction and work on a variety of industrial, commercial and institutional projects; and

WHEREAS, as the company has grown, it has moved offices several times with its current location in a converted 1851 farmhouse and a branch office in Winchester; and

WHEREAS, committed to the environment and excellence in building, Callas Contractors is a proud member of the U.S. Green Building Council and Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Michael Callas remained actively involved in the company until his passing in 2004, with the vision that the company would transition to an employee-owned company where his commitment to excellence, integrity, honesty, teamwork, and community would continue; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Callas Contractors, Inc., on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Timothy Campbell, President and CEO of Callas Contractors, Inc., as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for the company’s commitment to excellence, service and the community.
