Commending Shirley Boggs.

WHEREAS, Shirley Boggs retired from her post as registrar of Spotsylvania County on July 31, 2008, after 11 years of outstanding service to her community and the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, an experienced and conscientious administrator, Shirley Boggs meticulously served the citizens of Spotsylvania County with great skill and passion; and

WHEREAS, an admired and respected public servant, Shirley Boggs served in the Spotsylvania County Registrar's Office in various roles for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, receiving praise and accolades over the years from her colleagues and fellow residents, Shirley Boggs was instrumental in the efficient and exemplary operation of voter registration in Spotsylvania County; and

WHEREAS, supportive of her neighbors and her community, Shirley Boggs is a founding and active member of the Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue Squad and a committed volunteer at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Boggs and her beloved late husband Francis have a son, Doug Boggs, and she looks forward to spending leisure time with her friends and family, especially her two granddaughters, and continuing her many volunteer efforts; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Shirley Boggs on her outstanding public service and 11 years of effective leadership of the Spotsylvania County Registrar's Office; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Shirley Boggs as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for her many achievements and best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement.
