HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 624
Commending David Ogle.

WHEREAS, David Ogle, the respected and admired director of the Virginia Department of Transportation's Fredericksburg District, retired on October 31, 2008, after 38 years of exemplary service to the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, David Ogle directed 550 employees and oversaw more than 11,500 miles of state-maintained roads in a diverse 14-county region that includes the urban areas of Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County and the rural areas of the Northern Neck and Gloucester and Mathews Counties; and

WHEREAS, an experienced and skilled administrator, David Ogle witnessed a period of tremendous growth and change in the Fredericksburg District's emergency response services and vast transportation needs; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure, David Ogle received constant praise and many accolades for his commitment to the transportation needs of all Virginians; and

WHEREAS, over the years, David Ogle has been a tireless supporter of his community and an active member of numerous civic and professional organizations that are vital partners to the region; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated public servant, David Ogle provided superior transportation leadership for his fellow citizens in the Fredericksburg District and the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend David Ogle on his 38 years of outstanding service as the director of the Virginia Department of Transportation's Fredericksburg District; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to David Ogle as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his many achievements and best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement.
