WHEREAS, Sue Edmondson Wilder, a beloved wife and mother and community volunteer, died on January 31, 2009; and
WHEREAS, known for her charming presence and delightful personality, Sue Wilder brought great joy to the lives of her family members and friends; and
WHEREAS, Sue Wilder was born in Halifax to loving and nurturing parents Elizabeth and Elisha Edmondson and had one brother, William, and five sisters, Grace, Marian, Mamye, Lola, and the late Elizabeth; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated and hard-working student, Sue Wilder received a bachelor’s degree from Hampton Institute, now Hampton University; and
WHEREAS, possessed of a keen intellect, Sue Wilder worked diligently at NASA for 35 years as a data analyst, where she was a valued employee; and
WHEREAS, Sue Wilder gave generously of her time and talents to different organizations over the years, including the Hampton University Booster Club, Links Inc., and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc; and
WHEREAS, a smart and vibrant woman, Sue Wilder was an example to and helped mold young girls through her involvement with the Girl Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, Sue Wilder lived her faith through her works and as a member of St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the choir, served as a vestry member and church treasurer, and worked on many church-related committees; and
WHEREAS, Sue Wilder lived a long and fruitful life dedicated to her family and community and leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Roland; daughters Teresa and Karen and son Dana; and many family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a dedicated community volunteer and outstanding Virginian, Sue Edmondson Wilder; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Sue Edmondson Wilder as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
