2009 SESSION
099176684WHEREAS, Charles Wight was honored by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Reston Interfaith, Inc., with a prestigious 2009 Best of Reston award; and
WHEREAS, the Best of Reston awards were established to recognize individuals, businesses, and organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the Reston community and improving the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, a true community servant, Charles Wight volunteers his time and talents with a variety of organizations in the Northern Virginia area; and
WHEREAS, Charles Wight visits and mentors those in county jails, nursing homes, hospitals, and the Fellowship House for seniors where he shares his life experiences; and
WHEREAS, an outstanding cook, Charles Wight worked with the Hypothermia Center, where he was the chief cook and organized helpers to produce nutritious and delicious meals; and
WHEREAS, Charles Wight’s leadership and compassion is also felt on Works Sunday, an annual day when the faith communities of Reston and Herndon show their faith through their actions by helping their neighbors; and
WHEREAS, an active member of United Christian Parish, Charles Wight has helped organize dinners, repair old houses for disabled homeowners, and provide meals and guest lectures for the Men’s Breakfast; and
WHEREAS, Charles Wight’s compassion and willingness to serve those around him have not only provided vital services to the community but stand as a model of service for others to emulate; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Charles Wight on his outstanding service to the residents of Northern Virginia and on his well-deserved honor as a 2009 Best of Reston award recipient; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Charles Wight as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his efforts on behalf of the community of Reston.
