Commending David Eisenman.

WHEREAS, David Eisenman was honored by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Reston Interfaith, Inc., with a prestigious 2009 Best of Reston award; and

WHEREAS, the Best of Reston awards were established to recognize individuals, businesses, and organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the Reston community and improving the lives of others; and

WHEREAS, as the General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Reston, David Eisenman has instituted several innovative and creative community service projects in addition to serving in the community on the board of directors of the Reston YMCA, the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Reston Arts Center; and

WHEREAS, David Eisenman created the Hyatt Regency Reston/South Lakes Partnership that allows disabled students from South Lakes High School to work a few hours every day completing various tasks around the hotel, allowing the students to gain valuable work experience; and

WHEREAS, David Eisenman also partners with Armstrong Elementary School on Camp Hyatt Career Day, when a fifth grade class comes to the hotel to work alongside staff members; and

WHEREAS, David Eisenman donates space in the Hyatt Regency Reston to several community organizations, including the bloodmobile, Kids R First, and the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk, in addition to donating rooms for various charity auctions; and

WHEREAS, David Eisenman has won many awards and accolades for his work with Hyatt Regency; he was named General Manager of the Year by Host Hotels, and is a four-time nominee for the prestigious Donald Pritzker Award of Excellence; and

WHEREAS, David Eisenman’s dedication to the Reston community provides not only vital services to community organizations but inspiration to those he works with and a model for others to follow; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate David Eisenman on his outstanding service to the residents of Northern Virginia and on his well-deserved honor as a 2009 Best of Reston award recipient; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to David Eisenman as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his efforts on behalf of the community of Reston.
