Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That § 2.2-2708 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 2.2-2708. Names of Virginians "Missing in Action"; ownership of War Memorial.

A. The names and homes of record designation of all Virginians "Missing In in Action" as a result of the Vietnam War and all Virginians "Killed in Action" as a result of the Persian Gulf Conflict any conflict involving U.S. forces shall be placed in the Virginia War Memorial.

B. The Virginia War Memorial, its grounds, all its contents, furnishings, funds, endowments, and other property, now owned or hereafter acquired, are and shall remain property of the Commonwealth.

C. For the purposes of subsection A, the term "Killed in Action" shall include any deployed active duty military personnel of the United States Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or National Guard, or any other reserve component thereof, killed while on assignment in a combat zone. The term shall not include any such personnel who died of self-inflicted wounds.
