WHEREAS, district court clerks, including juvenile and domestic relations district court clerks, are not elected to such offices and currently serve without the oversight of any local elected official, and while studying ways to streamline and consolidate clerks’ offices to achieve efficiencies, consideration should be given to determining the efficacy of merging district court clerk and circuit court offices or to requiring district court clerks to report to a local elected official such as the circuit court clerk; and

The joint subcommittee shall examine the issues noted in Senate Joint Resolution 336 (2005) and continued pursuant to Senate Joint Resolution 99 (2008), and while studying ways to streamline and consolidate clerks’ offices to achieve efficiencies, consider the efficacy of merging district court clerk and circuit court offices and requiring district court clerks to report to a local elected official such as the circuit court clerk.
