Commending Cheryl L. Stevens.

WHEREAS, Cheryl L. Stevens of Woodbridge retired on May 31, 2008, after 35 years of outstanding public service to the Commonwealth and the nation; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl Stevens began her civil service career in 1973 as an editorial assistant for the General Services Administration of the Department of the Navy; and

WHEREAS, a hardworking and dedicated public servant, Cheryl Stevens advanced to become a supply systems analyst, a distribution facilities specialist, and a traffic management specialist for the Chief of Naval Operations; and

WHEREAS, after a brief hiatus from government employment, Cheryl Stevens joined the Defense Finance and Accounting Service at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, in 1993; and

WHEREAS, in May 1995, Cheryl Stevens began working for the United States Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, as the branch head for Passenger Operations; and

WHEREAS, in February 1999, Cheryl Stevens began working for the Navy’s Bureau of Medicine and Surgery at the Naval Hospital in Camp Lejeune as a department head in the Management Analysis Department of the Comptroller’s Division; and

WHEREAS, in November 2000, Cheryl Stevens went to work for the Chief of Naval Operations, and she retired as an invaluable project manager for the Navy’s Defense Travel System; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Cheryl L. Stevens on her 35 years of dedication and exceptional public service to the Commonwealth and the nation; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Cheryl L. Stevens as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for her many achievements and best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement.
