Commending the Faith Christian Academy softball team.

WHEREAS, the Faith Christian Academy softball team defeated United Christian Academy, 10 - 1, on May 8, 2008, to win the Virginia Association of Christian Athletics Conference championship; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Lions were victorious in a double-header against United Christian Academy earlier in the season and gained confidence and momentum with a come-from-behind win against Carlisle Academy prior to the championship; and 

WHEREAS, to clinch the association title, the Lady Lions delivered 15 hits, which included a single and a triple by Jessica Worley, two singles by Allison Adams, two singles and a home run by Raven Worley, three singles by Jill Dudley, two singles each by Amanda Hall and Kristen Hall, and a single by Hope Trossen; and

WHEREAS, other outstanding team members Kaitlin Critchley, Susan Edwards, Felicia Hamlett, Cailin Leahy, and Leighanna Little also made tremendous contributions in the championship game and throughout the season; and

WHEREAS, Jill Dudley was a force on the mound for Faith Christian Academy, and she completed the entire title game with four strikeouts while yielding only five hits; and

WHEREAS, the triumphant performance of the 2008 Lady Lions is a tribute to the talent, dedication, and perseverance of the players; the leadership of Head Coach Renea Milam and assistant coaches Ryland Milam and Rhonda Milam, as well as Gene Carwile and Lisa Moore; and the support of the Lady Lions’ many fans; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Faith Christian Academy softball team on its exemplary 2008 season and Virginia Association of Christian Athletics Conference championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Renea Milam as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the championship performance of the Faith Christian Academy softball team.
