2008 SPECIAL SESSION II
089742686WHEREAS, Christopher Fairman, a senior at St. Leo University and resident of Yorktown, will retire from the USA World Roller Figure Skating Team in 2008; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Fairman attended Walsingham Academy in Williamsburg, where he was a member of the swim, sailing, and track and field teams; he was a Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Scholar, an Eagle Scout, and a delegate to Virginia Boys State; and
WHEREAS, roller figure skating is a demanding sport, requiring strength, coordination, and artistry; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Fairman has been a USA team member since 2000 by placing in the top three at the U.S. National Championships in the World Class Division; and
WHEREAS, a member of the USA Junior World Team in 2000 and 2001, Christopher Fairman earned silver medals from the Junior World Championships, and as a member of the USA Senior World Team since 2002, has placed in the top 10 every year but one; and
WHEREAS, since 1998, Christopher Fairman has represented the United States at the German Cup International Championship in Freiburg, Germany, placing in the top three each year; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Fairman graduates from college this year with a degree in international business management and will attend the Air Force’s Officer Candidate School; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Christopher Fairman for being an outstanding representative of Virginia in the world roller figure skating field; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Christopher Fairman as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his accomplishments and best wishes for success in his future endeavors.
