Celebrating the life of Officer Todd Allen Bahr.

WHEREAS, Fredericksburg Police Officer Todd Allen Bahr, age 40, died in the line of duty while in the pursuit of a suspect on June 6, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Officer Bahr is remembered for his valiant performance as a law-enforcement officer and for his dedication to his family, community, and fellow officers; and

WHEREAS, Todd Bahr was a graduate of Stafford High School and owned and operated Damage, Inc., until the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, when he felt compelled to serve his community and country; and

WHEREAS, since he was too old to enlist in the military, Todd Bahr completed law-enforcement training at the police academy and became a full-time police officer for the Fredericksburg Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Officer Bahr handled his daily rounds with great care, sensitivity, and professionalism, and he touched the lives of many of his fellow citizens, such as the mother he comforted when her daughter ran away from home or the paramedic he aided when a tree fell on her ambulance during a storm; and

WHEREAS, committed to protecting and serving Virginia's citizens and enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth, Office Bahr was a courageous and professional police officer who was highly respected by his peers; and

WHEREAS, an inspiration to his fellow officers, Officer Bahr exemplified the qualities of competence, experience, and sound judgment that make a great police officer, and his Unit 337 call number has been retired to honor his memory and his service; and

WHEREAS, Officer Bahr will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his loving wife, Stefanie Rose Bahr; his parents, Delbert and Kathy Bahr; and numerous other family members and friends; and

WHEREAS, the loss of Officer Bahr is tragic, not only for his family but also for his fellow law-enforcement officers and the citizens of the Commonwealth, and is a reminder of the great sacrifices made by our police officers and all first responders throughout the Commonwealth and the nation; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the passing of a fine public servant and an outstanding Virginian, Officer Todd Allen Bahr; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Officer Todd Allen Bahr as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
