SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Landlord and tenant law; appointment of resident agent by nonresident property owner. Requires that the Secretary of the Commonwealth, when acting as an agent for nonresident property owners, shall forward service of process to the address shown on the official tax record of the locality. Currently, it is to be sent to the address shown on the lease.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Landlord and tenant law; appointment of resident agent by nonresident property owner. Provides that for nonresident property owners, in addition to the requirement for a rental agent to reside and maintain a business office within Virginia, the City of Roanoke may, by ordinance, require such agents to reside in such locality or in an adjoining locality. The bill contains technical amendments.
