073960316WHEREAS, Randolph Wade of Axton, a beloved and respected citizen, community supporter, and businessman, died on April 12, 2007; and
WHEREAS, born on May 11, 1937, in Martinsville, Randolph “Harry” Wade was the son of the late Rachael Goard and Harry Clifton Wade; and
WHEREAS, a hardworking entrepreneur and tradesman, Harry Wade was the immensely successful co-owner and president of H. C. Wade Sheet Metal Works, Inc., and the owner of Wade Properties in Martinsville, as well as the co-owner of Wade Sheet Metal Corporation in Thomasville, North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, always ready to help his fellow residents in need in the community, Harry Wade was an enthusiastic and active member of the Martinsville Jaycees for many years; and
WHEREAS, a great mentor of young people and advocate for quality education in the public schools, Harry Wade served as the vice chairman of the Henry County School Board for more than 18 years; and
WHEREAS, Harry Wade was a faithful member and deacon of the County Line Christian Church and participated in the church’s many missions in the community; and
WHEREAS, Harry Wade will be fondly remembered for his devotion to his family, especially his 11 cherished grandchildren, and greatly missed by his wife Ruth; his children Randie, Lele, Katy, and Chip and their wonderful families; his sister Rebecca and brothers Charles and James; and his many friends in the Martinsville area; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of an outstanding citizen of Virginia, Randolph Wade; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Randolph Wade as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
