Commending Maynard Reynolds.

WHEREAS, Maynard Reynolds, a respected businessman, served with distinction on the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors for 34 years, representing the Natural Bridge District; and

WHEREAS, first appointed to fill a vacancy in December 1973, Maynard Reynolds won a special election to a one-year term the following November, then was reelected eight times to four-year terms between 1975 and 2003; and

WHEREAS, the owner of Reynolds Oil Co. and the long-time proprietor of a Glasgow service station, Maynard Reynolds first entered into public service as a member of the Glasgow Town Counci, serving from 1958 to 1964; and

WHEREAS, Maynard Reynolds was instrumental in the success of numerous projects during his tenure on the Board of Supervisors, including the establishment of the county’s industrial park at Natural Bridge Station, the launch of several public water and sewer service projects in the region, the construction of a new library in Glasgow, and securing funding for school renovations; and

WHEREAS, Maynard Reynolds always listened closely to his constituents, responding to them on a personal level and casting his votes as he believed best reflected their needs and interests; and

WHEREAS, Maynard Reynolds’ leadership and wisdom will be greatly missed, and his many years of service to Rockbridge County have certainly made it a better place; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Maynard Reynolds for his years of exemplary service on the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Maynard Reynolds as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his commitment to the citizens of Rockbridge County and the Commonwealth.
