2008 SESSION
089084308WHEREAS, James C. Strickler of Chesapeake, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, died on January 26, 2008; and
WHEREAS, James Strickler graduated from Western Branch High School in 2003 and joined the United States Army shortly thereafter; and
WHEREAS, James Strickler was a paratrooper and proud to be serving with the best of the best in Delta Company and Charlie Company of the 82nd Airborne Division, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, James Strickler had recently returned from a 15-month tour of duty in Samarra, Iraq, where he earned the Bronze Star for Valor and the most coveted Combat Infantryman Badge; and
WHEREAS, an exemplary paratrooper who served his country with courage and dignity, James Strickler was also mischievous and always up for adventure; he loved life and was a good friend to many; and
WHEREAS, James Strickler will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by his parents, his brother, and countless other family members and dear friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of James C. Strickler; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of James C. Strickler as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
