083437228Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. That the following route is hereby designated the "Wilderness Road: Virginia's Heritage Migration Route": U.S. Route 11 from Winchester to Bristol, then connecting with the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail in Scott County and continuing west on U.S. Routes 58 and 23, ending at Cumberland Gap National Heritage Park in Lee County where it intersects with the Kentucky Wilderness Road Heritage Highway; the Carolina Road along the corridor of U.S. Route 220, which runs from Buchanan County through Franklin County, Henry County, and the City of Martinsville, where it connects with North Carolina; and the Fincastle Turnpike, starting at Fincastle and moving west on Virginia Route 606, then south on Virginia Routes 615 and 42, then west on U.S. Route 460, then south on Virginia Route 61, U.S. Route 19, and Virginia Route 71, where it connects with the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail. This designation shall not affect any other designation heretofore or hereafter applied to this route or any portions thereof.
2. Notwithstanding the provisions of subdivision (4) of § 33.1-12, the costs of producing, placing, and maintaining these signs shall be paid as set out in the general appropriation act.
