Celebrating the life of Augustus Dale Brown.

WHEREAS, Augustus Dale Brown, age 78, a respected and admired citizen of Franklin County, died on February 24, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Dale Brown was a man who enjoyed helping others, and his wisdom was sought by residents throughout the community; and

WHEREAS, Dale Brown honorably served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and worked at Rubatex International in Bedford for 29 years until he retired; and

WHEREAS, a lifetime farmer and avid gardener on his boyhood farm, Dale Brown spent much of his time outdoors; and

WHEREAS, as a devoted citizen with a keen interest in his community, Dale Brown served on the Board of Supervisors for Franklin County for three terms; and

WHEREAS, Dale Brown was happily married to Shirley Anderson Brown for 52 years and had six wonderful children and 14 grandchildren, whom he adored; and

WHEREAS, as a highly respected resident in his community, Dale Brown will be fondly remembered and greatly missed; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Augustus Dale Brown, an exceptional citizen of Franklin County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Augustus Dale Brown as an expression of the high regard in which his memory is held by the members of the House of Delegates and the citizens of the Commonwealth.
