HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 24
Commending Kenneth G. Feng.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 7, 2008

 

WHEREAS, Kenneth G. Feng, an immigrant from China and a distinguished civil servant who has dedicated more than 35 years of public service to Fairfax County, retired in November 2007; and

WHEREAS, Ken Feng conscientiously protected and served his community and country as a deputy sheriff and federal law-enforcement officer for more than two decades; and

WHEREAS, Ken Feng has served as a member of the Fairfax County Park Authority board since 1996 and has been a guiding force for the Springfield District, ensuring the development of new recreational facilities, the preservation and interpretation of historic and Civil War sites, and the creation of new parks; and

WHEREAS, Governor Gilmore appointed Ken Feng to the Board of Juvenile Justice, where as chairman he led an effort to improve regulations and upgrade the certification standards of the Department of Juvenile Justice programs; and

WHEREAS, Ken Feng served on the Fairfax County Civil Service Commission, Telecommunications Taskforce, and Community Criminal Justice Board; and

WHEREAS, Ken Feng received the title of Lord Fairfax of Springfield Magisterial District by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for his leadership and contributions on various land use and transportation task forces in 2002; and

WHEREAS, Ken Feng embodies the very best characteristics of an Eagle Scout by his continued commitment to the Boys Scouts of America as a troop leader training the next generation of Scouts; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Kenneth G. Feng hereby be commended for his dedication and contributions to the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Fairfax County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kenneth G. Feng as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration and gratitude for his commitment to Fairfax County.
