WHEREAS, James Paul Shaw, a respected citizen of Woodlawn, died February 23, 2008; and

WHEREAS, a native of Carroll County, Paul Shaw was born on July 24, 1929, to Nelo and Erna Shaw, and he had one brother, Ernest, who preceded him in death; and

WHEREAS, Paul Shaw served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal; and

WHEREAS, after returning from Korea, Paul Shaw married the love of his life, Flora Wilson, on June 27, 1953, and they had two beloved sons, Tony and Terry; and

WHEREAS, Paul Shaw worked at the Wonderknit plant in Galax for 37 years, and due to his talent and hard work, he eventually became a plant manager; and

WHEREAS, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, Paul Shaw was an inspiration to all who knew him and he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, his sons and their wives, his grandchildren, and many other family members and dear friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of James Paul Shaw, a fine Virginian; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of James Paul Shaw as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
