HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 19
Commending Caroline, King William, King and Queen, New Kent, and Spotsylvania Counties.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 5, 2008

 

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth and its citizens are proud of the tradition of hunting with dogs and specifically hounds; and

WHEREAS, the tradition of hunting with dogs provides a significant economic benefit to the Commonwealth and its citizens; and

WHEREAS, hunting with dogs contributes to public safety by helping to control excess wildlife populations that would otherwise increase auto accidents, crop and property damage, and animal diseases; and

WHEREAS, the tradition of hunting with dogs, especially hounds, is practiced throughout Virginia and is a source of revenue and a major resource management mechanism; and

WHEREAS, the tradition of hunting with dogs is a wholesome family-oriented heritage that teaches self-reliance, individual responsibility, and the values of community stewardship of the state’s natural resources; and

WHEREAS, many enthusiasts support this tradition through the Virginia Hunting Dog Owner's Association, which is a statewide volunteer group of sporting, hound, and mixed-breed dog owners dedicated to advancing and protecting the Old Dominion's hunting traditions; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Caroline, King William, King and Queen, New Kent, and Spotsylvania Counties be commended for their support of the tradition of hunting with dogs; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the governing authorities of Caroline, King William, King and Queen, New Kent, and Spotsylvania Counties as an expression of the House of Delegates’ support for the tradition of hunting with dogs.
