HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 582
Commending Thomas Wayne Fore, Sr.

WHEREAS, Thomas Wayne Fore, Sr., honorably served the citizens of Amherst County for 12 years as a member of the Amherst County Board of Supervisors, from January 1, 1996, to December 31, 2007, and as its Chairman in 1998, 2002, and 2006; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Fore served as a member of Virginia’s Region 2000 Board of Directors from 1997 to 1999, as a member of the Central Virginia Community Services Board of Directors in 2006 and 2007, and as a member of the Central Virginia Workforce Development Council from 1996 to 1998; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Fore was the liaison between the Amherst County Board of Supervisors and the Amherst County School Board, Region 2000, and Central Virginia Community College; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Fore was a member of the Board of Directors for the Amherst County Department of Social Services, the Amherst County Service Authority, the Virginia Association of Counties, the Criminal Justice Services Board, and the Virginia Rural Water Association; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Fore was instrumental in establishing the Blue Ridge Trail, James River Park, and a regional jail and was supportive of improving the Amherst convenience centers, further developing the county’s education system, promoting high school and recreational athletics, and providing for paid fire and rescue personnel; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Fore was honored as a Certified County Supervisor by the Virginia Association of Counties; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Wayne Fore, Sr., has been instrumental in the improvements and progress in Amherst County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Thomas Wayne Fore, Sr., for his 12 years of service on the Amherst County Board of Supervisors; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Thomas Wayne Fore, Sr., as an expression of the General Assembly’s recognition of his commitment to the citizens of Amherst County.
