WHEREAS, the TriPower Cycling Club of Virginia Beach was honored as USA Cycling’s National Club of the Year for Division II; and
WHEREAS, the TriPower Cycling Club received the USA Cycling (USAC) award for excellence in the seven areas of promotion, membership, clinics, seminars, club activities, charitable contributions, and race performance in USAC sanctioned organizations with 30 to 75 licensed members; and
WHEREAS, in 2007 the TriPower Cycling Club was named USAC’s Virginia District Best-All-Around Team for the fourth straight year, and eight individuals achieved their best-all-around championships; and
WHEREAS, the TriPower Cycling Club received high marks from the USAC for its contribution to the sport of cycling through educational clinics and seminars, as well as its many outstanding initiatives on behalf of juniors, women, and master cyclists; and
WHEREAS, the TriPower Cycling Club is dedicated to promoting the sport of cycling while having fun, and the men and women of the team reflect a positive attitude, a zest for riding, good sportsmanship, and a willingness to inspire others to become involved in the sport; and
WHEREAS, some of TriPower’s members have more than 35 years of cycling experience, and they are always willing to share their experiences and knowledge with newcomers; and
WHEREAS, the TriPower Cycling Club promotes and supports the Conte’s Cycling Classic, the Amphibious Assault Criterium, and the Mt. Trashmore Cyclocross Race; and
WHEREAS, a great supporter of the Virginia Beach community, the TriPower Cycling Club sponsors its members’ participation in the MS 150, to benefit people with multiple sclerosis, and Bike for the Cure, to benefit people with Huntington’s disease, as well as contributing to various civic organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, and Bikes for the Homeless; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the TriPower Cycling Club of Virginia Beach as USA Cycling’s National Club of the Year for Division II; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the TriPower Cycling Club family as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for its many achievements and its commitment to the Virginia Beach community and the sport of cycling.
