HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 563 Commending Jay Nedry.

WHEREAS, Jay Nedry, a conscientious member of the Staunton Military Academy Alumni Association, is recognized for his many contributions to his community and the Staunton Military Academy; and

WHEREAS, Jay Nedry, a Virginia native son, is a proud graduate of Staunton Military Academy’s Class of 1969, who went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from The College of William and Mary in 1973; and

WHEREAS, Jay Nedry is an historian with vast knowledge of local, Virginia, and United States history, and he is the heart and soul of the Staunton Military Academy Alumni Association, possessing an institutional memory unparalleled in regard to the history and culture of the school, former educators, coaches, administrators, and students; and

WHEREAS, Jay Nedry has served as master of ceremonies at association events and has established valuable relationships with the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership (VWIL), Mary Baldwin College, the alumni of Stuart Hall, the community of Staunton, and other organizations that have enabled Staunton Military Academy to foster ties of cooperation and friendship; and

WHEREAS, Jay Nedry has been instrumental in the continued growth of the Staunton Military Academy Alumni Association, and during his tenure as master of ceremonies and amateur historian, the level of alumni membership has increased and attendance at events and participation in alumni projects have flourished; and

WHEREAS, Jay Nedry has worked diligently to preserve the rich and diverse history of the academy, as well as help maintain a record of school memories for Staunton Military Academy alumni and graduates of VWIL to cherish as part of their heritage; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Jay Nedry for his many contributions to the Staunton Military Academy Alumni Association and his community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jay Nedry as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his commitment to his fellow alumni, Staunton Military Academy, and the community of Staunton.
