2008 SESSION
WHEREAS, the City of Hampton was selected by the America’s Promise Alliance (the Alliance) as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People in 2008; and
WHEREAS, this is the third time that the City of Hampton has been selected by the Alliance for this prestigious award and this is just one of many accolades that the City of Hampton and its community partners have received; and
WHEREAS, it takes a considerable commitment to establish and maintain a strong network of agencies, businesses, parents, volunteers, and other caring adults to provide safe places and to help young people reach their full potential; and
WHEREAS, the prosperity of the Commonwealth of Virginia and all communities depends on how well young people are prepared for the responsibilities of citizenship, leadership, partnership, and the work force; and
WHEREAS, all of society benefits exponentially when young people succeed in school, in work, and in life and contribute to building better communities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the City of Hampton for this outstanding achievement; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the City of Hampton as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration, gratitude, and continued hope for success in creating an innovative climate in which young people can thrive.
