Commending Bread and Water for Africa.

WHEREAS, Bread and Water for Africa, an international nongovernmental organization headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, was incorporated in 1998 as a nonprofit, charitable organization with a mission to support grassroots, African community-based initiatives for self-sufficiency, health, and educational programs; and

WHEREAS, Bread and Water for Africa began in 1986 as a project of Christian Relief Services Charities and it remains an affiliate of the organization today; and

WHEREAS, Bread and Water for Africa helps build new schools, provides care for orphans and refugees, educates people about AIDS prevention and treatment, and works to purify African water supplies; and

WHEREAS, for 10 years, Bread and Water for Africa has sought to preserve the rich history and diverse culture of Africa, as well as create a better future for African children; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Bread and Water for Africa on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its incorporation; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bread and Water for Africa as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude and appreciation for the nonprofit’s outstanding efforts and its noble mission to aid Africa and African children in need.
