Commending the Organized Women Voters of Arlington on the occasion of its 85th anniversary.

WHEREAS, the Organized Women Voters of Arlington is celebrating its 85th anniversary of serving the citizens of Arlington in 2008; and

WHEREAS, the Organized Women Voters of Arlington is the oldest nonpartisan women’s organization in Arlington County; and

WHEREAS, outstanding members of Organized Women Voters were the first women to be appointed to several county positions; and

WHEREAS, for the past 85 years, the Organized Women Voters of Arlington has provided a continuing forum for candidates and elected leaders of all political persuasions; now, therefore, be it 

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the Organized Women Voters of Arlington on the occasion of its 85th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Organized Women Voters of Arlington as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude to the organization’s outstanding service to the citizens of Arlington and the Commonwealth.
