089137744WHEREAS, Ralph D. Stevenson of Virginia Beach, a respected citizen and United States Navy veteran, died on February 8, 2008; and
WHEREAS, Ralph Stevenson had a 26-year career in the United States Navy during which he served on a variety of ship and shore stations including the USS Purdy, USS Estes, USS Okinawa, USS Compton, USS Hazelwood, USS R. H. McCard, and the Naval Supply Center at Norfolk; and
WHEREAS, Ralph Stevenson concluded his naval career as the First Command Master Chief for the Navy Resale and Services Support Office, a position in which he opened new lines of communication with senior command elements about issues directly affecting enlisted personnel worldwide; and
WHEREAS, after retiring from the Navy in 1983, Ralph Stevenson began a new career in real estate and assisted many military and civilian families moving to and from the Hampton Roads area; in 1996 he founded All/Pros Realty, Inc., where he was president and principal broker; and
WHEREAS, Ralph Stevenson was active in professional organizations such as the National Association of Realtors, the National Association of Residential Property Managers, and the Hampton Roads Realtors Association; he was also past president of a local Toastmasters International club; and
WHEREAS, an outgoing person who loved spending time with his family and friends, Ralph Stevenson will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Tammy; his sisters, Dee and Margaret; his brother, Charles; and many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Ralph D. Stevenson, a true patriot and a fine Virginian; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Ralph D. Stevenson as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
