WHEREAS, Lieutenant Alex John Keepers, age 31, of the Loudoun County Department of Fire and Rescue, is remembered for his valiant service as a firefighter and for his devotion to his family, community, and fellow officers; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Keepers died tragically on December 31, 2007, in an automobile accident on the Point of Rocks Bridge while on his way to work; and
WHEREAS, committed to safeguarding Virginia’s citizens and protecting the quality of life in Loudoun County, Lieutenant Keepers was a courageous and committed fire lieutenant, who was highly respected by his colleagues in the fire department; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Keepers was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, a former member of the United States Marine Corps, and active in many community organizations; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Keepers will be fondly remembered as an exemplary citizen, a loyal friend, and devoted fire lieutenant and will be greatly missed by his loving family, many friends, and his fellow firefighters in Loudoun County; and
WHEREAS, the loss of Lieutenant Keepers is tragic for his family, his fellow firefighters, and the citizens of the Commonwealth and is a reminder of the great sacrifices made by the members of our dedicated fire departments and all first responders throughout the Commonwealth and the nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a fine public servant and an outstanding firefighter, Lieutenant Alex John Keepers; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lieutenant Alex John Keepers as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
