Commending Nick Manning.

WHEREAS, Nick Manning, a freshman at Greenbrier Christian Academy in Chesapeake, was selected as Virginia’s 2008 Children’s Miracle Network champion; and

WHEREAS, the Children's Miracle Network Champions Across America honors remarkable children who have triumphed despite severe medical challenges; and

WHEREAS, after sustaining life-threatening injuries in a motocross accident in 2006, Nick Manning was treated at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk, where a team of doctors, nurses, and therapists aided him in a long recovery process; and

WHEREAS, as a representative of the Children's Miracle Network, Nick Manning will participate in the taping of the 2008 Children's Miracle Network Telethon Celebration and will travel to Washington, D.C., as an ambassador for hospitalized children across the nation; and

WHEREAS, while in Washington, D.C., Nick Manning will visit the White House and meet with senators and representatives to talk about the important work done at children's hospitals around the country; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Nick Manning on being named Virginia’s 2008 Children’s Miracle Network champion; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Nick Manning as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his courage and commitment in the face of severe challenges.
