089027676WHEREAS, Quinton Volunteer Fire & EMS, New Kent Company Two celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2008; and
WHEREAS, in 1958 the need for fire protection in New Kent County far exceeded the means of the county’s single company; and
WHEREAS, Williard Lipscomb, Harold Seitz, Jack Miles, Stanley Bowis, Andrew Mihalcoe, Billy Bowery, Earl Anderson, Ross Carter, Fred Anderson, Henry Anderson, and A. C. Frank recognized this need; and
WHEREAS, on January 25, 1958, a 1958 tank truck with a portable pump was put into service; and
WHEREAS, the department has grown from one vehicle housed in a garage to more than seven emergency vehicles housed in a firehouse with five equipment bays, which was built with funds raised by the members and the community; and
WHEREAS, in 1992 Quinton Volunteer Fire & EMS, New Kent Company Two was further licensed to run First Responder/Emergency Medical Service calls; and
WHEREAS, in 1998 Quinton Volunteer Fire & EMS, New Kent Company Two acquired two ambulances and became licensed as an Advanced Life Support transport agency; and
WHEREAS, Quinton Volunteer Fire & EMS, New Kent Company Two continues to respond to fire and EMS calls in New Kent County; and
WHEREAS, the members of Quinton Volunteer Fire & EMS, New Kent Company Two are proud of their accomplishments, their equipment, their station, and their service to the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Quinton Volunteer Fire & EMS, New Kent Company Two on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Quinton Volunteer Fire & EMS, New Kent Company Two as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for the organization’s commitment to providing emergency fire and emergency medical service to the citizens of New Kent County.
