2008 SESSION
WHEREAS, Edna Cregger Clark of Roanoke, a respected citizen and community supporter, died on January 10, 2008; and
WHEREAS, the oldest of six children, Edna Clark was born in Roanoke in 1924 to the late Marie Catron Cregger and Charles Roy Cregger, Sr., and she grew up in the Town of Vinton and graduated from William Byrd High School; and
WHEREAS, after marrying and starting a family, Edna Clark was a devoted homemaker for several years and was active in her community, serving as PTA president, school aide, and Brownie Girl Scout leader; and
WHEREAS, for the last 47 years, Edna Clark worked at Francis Realtors as an administrative secretary, enjoying the opportunity to learn and grow professionally; and
WHEREAS, a strong believer in continuing education, Edna Clark took a number of courses at Virginia Western Community College, successfully completing the training and examinations necessary to become a Certified Professional Secretary; and
WHEREAS, a faithful member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church for more than 60 years, Edna Clark served the church as Bible school principal and Sunday school teacher and was the church clerk for more than 25 years; and
WHEREAS, Edna Clark will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her loving husband of 61 years, Lewis Daniel Clark; her daughters, Betty Jo and Kathy; her grandchildren, Kathryn, Jonathan, and Zachary; two great-grandchildren; and many other family members and dear friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Edna Cregger Clark; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Edna Cregger Clark as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
