WHEREAS, the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2007 as the longest serving faith-based advocacy group in Virginia; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy is an activist group that lobbies for public policy changes in areas of law that affect many people living in poverty; and
WHEREAS, since 1982, the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy has been the most respected interfaith voice bringing people of faith together for the advocacy of human dignity and social justice; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy is to speak for and with the vulnerable and to work for a just and compassionate Commonwealth by uniting and empowering faith communities; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy represents Christian, Muslim, and Jewish faith communities; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Interfaith Center includes 21 member faith groups, several faith-based organizations, engaged congregations, and over 1,000 individuals; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude to the organization for its commitment to aid citizens in need in the Commonwealth.
