2008 SESSION
WHEREAS, Robert Filmore Jones of Berryville, a respected citizen and outstanding community supporter, died on December 3, 2007; and
WHEREAS, Robert “Bob” Jones was the loving husband of Joyce Skiles Jones and the loving father of Andrew S. Jones and Allison Jones Robinson; and
WHEREAS, Bob Jones enjoyed 40 years of marriage to his devoted wife Joyce, who moved with her husband to Virginia from the couple’s native Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Bob Jones was the dedicated and exemplary plant manager of the Kraft Foods facility for many years; and
WHEREAS, as an employee of Kraft Foods, Bob Jones made significant contributions and received a patent for a pneumatic unloading apparatus for bulk material in 1991; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated supporter of his beloved Winchester community, Bob Jones gave his time and many talents to civic organizations and activities over the years, including as a longtime member of the Rotary Club and as chairman of the Winchester Chapter of the United Way; and
WHEREAS, Bob Jones was committed to his family, displaying numerous personal photos in his office and he and Joyce frequently enjoyed visiting their children and three granddaughters in North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, a passionate sailor, Bob Jones enjoyed navigating Virginia’s waterways and admiring the natural beauty of sea and coast; and
WHEREAS, Bob Jones will be fondly remembered for his loving and compassionate nature and his contagious smile and will be greatly missed by his loving wife and family, his numerous coworkers and good friends, and the residents of Winchester; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the passing of an exceptional citizen of Winchester and the Commonwealth, Robert Filmore Jones; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robert Filmore Jones as an expression of the respect in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
