084750653WHEREAS, Roy Otis Brown, Sr., of Sandston, a respected citizen and outstanding community supporter, died on October 29, 2007; and
WHEREAS, born on June 29, 1927, Roy Brown was the son of the late Deacon Norman Brown and Gunilda Taylor Brown and the loving brother of seven brothers and sisters; and
WHEREAS, Roy Brown married the late Mary Irene "Rene" Brown, and the couple had a long and happy marriage for over 50 years and raised seven wonderful children; and
WHEREAS, Roy Brown retired from Ford Motor Company in 1987, and he owned a successful business, Brown Cleaning Service, for many years; and
WHEREAS, Roy Brown was a faithful member of Seven Pines Baptist Church in Sandston, where he was a member of the usher board and the Male Chorus and active in the church's many missions in the community; and
WHEREAS, Roy Brown will be fondly remembered by his extended family at Seven Pines Baptist Church as a "suave, debonair, convertible-driving, and tree-loving man"; and
WHEREAS, Roy Brown will be greatly missed by his seven children, Henry Otis, Roy Otis, Jr., Preston Taylor, Larry Dexter, Renee, Faye Irene, and Phillip Haywood and their wonderful families, including 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his sister Geraldine, his only living sibling, and a host of other relatives and special friends; and the congregation of Seven Pines Baptist Church; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of an outstanding Virginian, Roy Otis Brown, Sr.; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Roy Otis Brown, Sr., as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
