WHEREAS, Robert M. Sager, a respected citizen of Frederick County and longtime public servant, died on August 12, 2007; and

WHEREAS, a 22-year veteran of the United States Air Force, Robert Sager served the Virginia Department of Corrections as a guard for many years and Frederick County as a deputy sheriff for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, committed to making the community a better place to live, Robert Sager ran for office and was elected to the Frederick County Board of Supervisors, where he served his fellow citizens with distinction for 12 years; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure, Robert Sager represented the best interests of his constituents and Frederick County in important public policy issues, and he was a strong advocate of social services for the community's citizens in need; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sager gave his time and immense talents to numerous civic organizations and was committed to a safe, healthy, drug-free community, serving as a member and longtime treasurer of Community and Law Enforcement Against Narcotics, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sager was an exceptional role model and mentor, especially for Frederick County's young people, and was an avid supporter of the Shelter for Abused Women in Winchester and the Winchester-Frederick County Child Abuse Council; and

WHEREAS, a hard-working, conscientious, and knowledgeable public servant and an admired community leader, Robert Sager's first priority was the well-being of his fellow residents and the future prosperity of Frederick County; and

WHEREAS, a loyal friend and devoted family man, Robert Sager will be fondly remembered for his strength of character and will be greatly missed by his loving wife Deanna; his six children and three adopted children; his numerous other family members and friends; and the citizens of Frederick County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with great sadness the passing of an outstanding Virginian, Robert M. Sager; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robert M. Sager as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
