Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. There is hereby established a task force to develop criteria for the training and certification of all firefighters in Virginia. The task force shall be appointed by the Secretary of Public Safety and shall consist of the following members: one member recommended by the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters; one member recommended by the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association; one member recommended by the Virginia Fire Prevention Association; three members recommended by the Virginia State Firefighter's Association; and one member recommended by the Virginia Association of Counties.
§ 2. The task force shall meet as often as necessary to carry out its responsibilities under this act, and shall complete its work on or before July 1, 2009. The task force shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the Virginia Fire Services Board at the Board's first regular meeting held after July 1, 2009. Members of the task force shall receive no compensation for carrying out their responsibilities under this act.
§ 3. The Department of Fire Programs shall provide staff and logistical support to the task force.
