Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 18.2-60.2:1 as follows:

§18.2-60.2:1. Threatening state employee; penalty.

Any person who knowingly and willfully sends, delivers, or conveys, or causes to be sent, delivered, or conveyed, to any state employee any threat to take the life of or inflict bodily harm upon the employee, whether the threat is oral or written, for the purpose of interfering with the employee's official duties is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
