HOUSE BILL NO. 1227 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the House Committee on Health, Welfare and Institutions on January 22, 2008) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Delegate Vanderhye) A BILL to direct the Virginia Department of Health to allow referral from additional Breast and Cervical Cancer screening providers to the Every Woman's Life Program in order to expand coverage of medical treatment for these women under Medicaid.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  § 1. That the Virginia Department of Health shall increase access to service under the Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Act (BCCPTA), P.L. 106-354, by allowing additional providers who diagnose women with breast cancer or cervical cancer to refer such women to the State Title XV Grantee (Every Woman's Life Program) for eligibility verification and referral to Medicaid for treatment under the BCCPTA, consistent with "Option 3" of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.
