HOUSE BILL NO. 1178 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the Senate Committee for Courts of Justice on February 25, 2008) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Delegate Lingamfelter) A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 18.2-172.2, relating to maliciously affixing another's signature to writing.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 18.2-172.2 as follows:

§ 18.2-172.2. Maliciously affixing another's signature to writing; penalty.

Any person who maliciously affixes a facsimile or likeness of the signature of another person to any writing without the permission of that person and with the intent to create the false impression that the writing was signed by that person is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
