SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Limits on driving on a restricted permit. Provides that a person whose license to operate a motor vehicle has been suspended or revoked may be issued a restricted permit to drive for the purpose of providing medically necessary transportation of any person residing in the person's household with a serious medical problem, as designated by the court, upon written verification of need by a licensed health professional. Currently, the restriction is narrower, only allowing such person to drive an elderly parent for a medical necessity and to drive minor children to medical care facilities. This bill is similar to HB 2266.

Limits on driving on a restricted permit. Provides that a person whose license to operate a motor vehicle has been suspended or revoked may be issued a restricted permit to drive for the purpose of providing medically necessary transportation of any person residing in the person's household with a serious medical problem upon written verification of need by a licensed health professional. Currently, the restriction is narrower, only allowing such person to drive an elderly parent for a medical necessity and to drive minor children to medical care facilities.

Provides that a person who may drive on a restricted permit may drive in pursuit of health care services, including medically necessary transportation of any member of the person's family or household who is either incapable of or prohibited from operating a motor vehicle. Currently, the restriction is narrower, allowing such person to drive an elderly parent for a medical necessity and to drive minor children to medical care facilities.
