SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Petition for release of acquittee. Provides that only when a motion for release from custody is made by the person acquitted by reason of insanity shall the court order an evaluation by a psychiatrist and psychologist. Currently, this is required when the petition is by either the acquittee or the Commissioner of DMHMRSAS. The bill provides that the court may order an additional evaluation if it deems further evaluation necessary.
