SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Study; expedited processing of absentee ballots; report. Establishes a joint subcommittee to study expedited processing of absentee votes before election day. Created for one year to benefit the large anticipated voter participation in 2008, the 11-member joint subcommittee will examine: (i) the practices of other states that allow expedited processing of absentee ballots before election day; (ii) the experience in other states that accept absentee ballots without signature verification or electronically; (iii) the advantages and disadvantages of expeditng procedures; and (iv) whether Virginia should authorize local election officials to expedite processing of absentee ballots before election day.
