SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Larceny by computer; penalties. Provides that a person who uses a computer or computer network to (i) purchase or attempt to purchase property or services with a mode of payment he knows or has reason to know is false, fictitious, or is without the consent of the responsible payor, or (ii) sell or attempt to sell property he knows or has reason to know is stolen, has committed larceny by computer which is punishable as larceny.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Expansion of computer fraud. Provides that purchases or attempts to purchase property or services with a mode of payment that is false, fictitious, or is without the consent of the responsible payor and sales or attempted sales of stolen property, via use of a computer or computer network, constitute computer fraud. The bill also establishes venue for computer fraud in any place where any part of the transaction occurs, and expands the definition of computer network.
