2007 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Clarke County High School cheer squad won the 2006 Virginia High School League Group A state championship in competition with 10 other teams; and
WHEREAS, in a close contest, Clarke County edged out Windsor High School by three points, finishing with 238 points to Windsor’s 235; and
WHEREAS, on their way to winning the state title, the Clarke County Eagles placed second in the Bull Run District and Region B tournaments; and
WHEREAS, in winning its first-ever state championship, the Clarke County cheer squad relied on confidence and determination to put together an energetic performance; and
WHEREAS, the Clarke County High School cheer squad’s triumph is a tribute to the talent and dedication of the team members; the leadership of Coach Anne Gorman and her staff; and the support of the students, faculty, and parents of Clarke County High School; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Clarke County High School cheer squad on its 2006 Virginia High School League Group A state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Coach Anne Gorman on behalf of the Clarke County High School cheer squad as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the Eagles’ outstanding achievement.
