2007 SESSION
WHEREAS, Judith N. Knudson, the admired and respected executive director of Olde Towne Medical Center in James City County, will retire in 2007 after 13 years of outstanding service to her community; and
WHEREAS, in 1989, Judith N. “Judy” Knudson became the first and only woman elected to the James City County Board of Supervisors, serving one term before leaving to become the driving force and inspiration for the Olde Towne Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, since its opening in July 1994, Olde Towne Medical Center, under Judy Knudson’s extraordinary leadership, has provided quality medical and dental care to the uninsured and underinsured populations in greater Williamsburg; and
WHEREAS, in 2005, Judy Knudson directed clinic operations that treated 14,000 patients and employed 30 dedicated staff members supported by 65 volunteers; and
WHEREAS, a knowledgeable and articulate advocate for quality healthcare, Judy Knudson is proudest of the help that the clinic has provided to people in need during her tenure; and
WHEREAS, a hardworking public servant, Judy Knudson has also served her community as a member of the Williamsburg Board of Zoning Appeals, and she generously works with civic organizations such as the Hispanic Coalition, the League of Women Voters, and the Kids First Coalition to improve the quality of life of her fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, after her well-deserved retirement, Judy Knudson plans to remain in the Williamsburg area and enjoy more time with her wonderful family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Judith N. Knudson for her longtime service to the citizens of James City County and the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Judith N. Knudson as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for her many contributions and best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement.
