SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 465
Commending Georgia Graves.

WHEREAS, Georgia Graves was honored by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Reston Interfaith, Inc., with a 2007 Best of Reston award; and

WHEREAS, the Best of Reston awards were established to recognize individuals, businesses, and organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the Reston community and improving the lives of others; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Graves is an innovative leader in her company, Bridgman Communications, and the community at large; and

WHEREAS, committed to encouraging the growth of and fostering ties among local businesses, Georgia Graves has served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce, including a term as chairman, and has been a member of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce, Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, and Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Graves has helped promote the arts and public access media in the community through her service on the board of directors for the Council for the Arts of Herndon, Herndon’s Channel 23, and Fairfax Public Access; and

WHEREAS, an active participant in the American Originals Fife and Drum Corps since 1991, Georgia Graves is the group’s drum major, and she has helped establish and direct a very successful junior fife and drum corps at Linton Hall School in Bristow, Virginia; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Georgia Graves for her service to the citizens of Northern Virginia and congratulate her on her 2007 Best of Reston award; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Georgia Graves as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration and gratitude for her efforts on behalf of the community of Reston.
