079226724WHEREAS, Ronald Eugene Brown of Covington, a respected citizen and local union leader, died on December 23, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Ronald “Ron” Brown was born on August 18, 1939, in Clifton Forge, the son of the late Joe and Odessa Persinger Brown; and
WHEREAS, a patriotic Virginian, Ron Brown served his country in the Army National Guard and took great pride in his community, state, and nation; and
WHEREAS, after 49 years of outstanding service, Ron Brown retired from Mead Westvaco's activated carbon operation in Covington, where he was a team leader; and
WHEREAS, Ron Brown served twice as the president of United Steel Workers Local No. 8–675–PACE Union of Covington and in 2004 was inducted into its PACE Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, concerned with the well-being of his fellow citizens, Ron Brown was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 610 and active in the organization’s many charitable activities in the community; and
WHEREAS, Ron Brown will be fondly remembered for his sense of duty and loyalty and greatly missed by his wife, Lois Bryan Brown of Valley Ridge, his four brothers and their families, his numerous other family members and friends, and the citizens of Covington and Clifton Forge; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of an outstanding Virginian, Ronald Eugene Brown; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Ronald Eugene Brown as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
